Sheffield, England, March 2026: Wilson Benesch announces the Greenwich Turntable, a new model within the GMT® Collection that will receive its first global public preview at Audio Show Deluxe (21–22 March 2026).
Greenwich establishes the entry point into the Wilson Benesch GMT® analogue architecture. Built around the same ALPHA–OMEGA drive platform that underpins the Prime Meridian and GMT® One turntables, Greenwich forms the foundation of a progressive system in which structural, damping and isolation systems evolve through the range.
The GMT® One Turntable was introduced at Munich High End 2024, establishing the ALPHA–OMEGA platform as the foundation of Wilson Benesch’s reference analogue architecture. Prime Meridian Turntable followed, extending that architecture through expanded structural and damping strategies while preserving the same core drive technology.
OMEGA Direct Drive Motor Architecture
At the heart of the Greenwich Turntable is the Wilson Benesch OMEGA Direct Drive, a patent-pending 15-inch slot-less synchronous motor employing a circumjacent radial force architecture. The large-diameter OMEGA Drive motor topology delivers precise, uniform electromagnetic flux and perfectly synchronous drive between stator and rotor without requiring complex feedback compensation. The system is purpose-designed and hand-built to achieve extreme-performance analogue playback.
A key breakthrough of the OMEGA Drive is its ultra-low torque motor, operating at a fundamental frequency of 4 Hz—well below the threshold of human hearing (typically around 20 Hz). This allows the drive system to operate without motor-noise-related artifacts and avoids the critical wow and flutter modulation region that can affect perceived sound quality.
The drive system also ensures that no lateral forces are applied to the bearing, allowing the bearing to operate under purely axial conditions. This significantly reduces friction, noise and micro-vibrations, enabling a level of mechanical stability rarely achieved in turntable design.
The OMEGA Direct Drive is powered by the dedicated ALPHA Drive, a quartz-referenced three-phase Class A drive system designed to maintain extremely precise current control and rotational accuracy.
System Configuration and Upgrades
The Greenwich Turntable can be configured as a complete analogue system with several Wilson Benesch components, including:
-
GRAVITON® Ti Tonearm
-
TESSELLATE Ti Cartridge
-
R1 Carbon Rack
-
Optional VTA Control System
This modular architecture allows owners to enter the GMT platform with Greenwich and later evolve toward the Prime Meridian and ultimately the GMT® One, while preserving the core ALPHA–OMEGA drive platform and associated components.
Pricing, Availability and Demonstration
Greenwich Turntable MSRP (turntable only):
-
United Kingdom: £82,000 (inc. VAT)
-
Europe: €98,000
-
United States: $130,000
Optional upgrades include the Clear Platter & Rotor Upgrade, VTA Control System, R1 Carbon Rack, GRAVITON Ti Tonearm, and TESSELLATE Ti Cartridge. Retail pricing may vary depending on local taxes, duties and tariffs.
Production of the Greenwich Turntable will begin in April 2026, with a standard lead time of 12–14 weeks. The product will receive its first public demonstration at Audio Show Deluxe 2026 and is available to order immediately through authorised Wilson Benesch distributors worldwide.
