The following is a press release issued by Gig Harbor Audio.
Friday, June 17, 6–9pm: Gig Harbor Audio (3019 Judson Street, Suite D, Gig Harbor) and J-Corder (5800 Soundview Drive, D-101, Gig Harbor) will host a “Tactile Psychoacoustics” listening party. Guests will witness a performance by “electro-world-groove” band Budapest West in an unusual manner—listening through Mylar balloons—in an attempt to simulate a deaf person’s experience of listening to music.
The band’s acoustic performance will be recorded directly to tape using a Technics 1520 reel-to-reel machine. All attendees will receive a digitized version of the recording, complete with clinking glasses, applause, and chatter.
Other featured gear will include Blumenstein Audio loudspeakers, Exposure 3010 electronics, and AudioQuest cables. In addition, 18 oil paintings by artist Ann Stockdale will be on display, and 7 Seas Brewing will provide their Life Jacket Session IPA.
