When “T.H.E. Show” first began participants often cited the larger more speaker-friendly rooms of “The Show’s” venue when compared with CES’s offerings at the Alexis Park hotel as their primary reason for participation at “The Show”. Now that “the Show” has moved over to the Alexis Park this can hardly be used as an argument for “The Show” participation by high-end audio manufacturers.
This year the Venetian offered a variety of hotel rooms and even small ballrooms so that any manufacturer could get an adequate space for their demonstrations. In reality the Venetian has a much wider variety of room sizes than the Alexis Park.
So, why would anyone still want to be at “The Show”? The only reason I can see is price.
“The Show” is still substantially cheaper than CES. Everyone knows this since its marketing efforts dwell on it as a primary advantage. But is that the message a manufacturer of high end products wants to send to their customers? ”I don¹t think enough of my products or customers to exhibit in a legitimate venue, so instead I’m at a parasitic entity whose only reason to exist is because it’s less expensive?” I hope not.
Put a fork in it, it’s done. T.H.E. Show should be put out of its misery.
