Carbide Audio Introduces Carbide Base Evo Audio Footer

March, 2023 – Carbide Audio introduces the new Evo update to the Carbide Base audio equipment footer. Far from a simple evolution, every part except for the internal ViscoRing™ was redesigned to further enhance vibration control performance.

A new austenitic (i.e. non-magnetic) stainless steel section was inserted into the top center of the footer. A ridge lining the perimeter of the top section improves coupling through a reduction in contact surface area, better allowing for the passage of low amplitude vibrations into the device to be dissipated as heat.

Twice as many viscoelastic elements are now utilized in the lower ball bearing isolation stage to further improve horizontal damping. The zirconia ball bearings utilized in the lower section are 50% larger in diameter. This reduces rolling resistance to better allow small horizontal footer movements in response to low amplitude vibrations – a critical component for isolation of micro vibrations.

The patent pending design of the upper housing has also been updated to provide better isolation performance when supporting equipment on the lightweight end of the weight range for a given ViscoRing™.

Collectively the updates measurably improve performance, most notably in the high frequencies.
