The following is a press release issued by Bryston.
Hi Folks,
I am pleased to report that today Bryston received our ‘Surface Mount Technology ‘(SMT) equipment. This gear will allow us to manufacture all our circuit boards for our amplifiers and speakers ‘in house’ at our Canadian factory.
This equipment involves 3 basic stages of manufacturing.
1. PASTE PRINTER
The application of solder paste to a circuit board is one of the most critical steps in surface mount assembly. The primary goal of the process is to solder pads onto a circuit board. This process requires the meticulous application of the right amount of paste onto every one of the pads. Using a stencil printer and squeegee blade, this unit spreads the solder paste onto the circuit board.
2. SMT (pick and place)
Surface-mount technology (SMT) component placement systems are robotic machines which are used to place surface-mount devices (SMDs) onto a printed circuit board (PCB). They are high speed, high precision way of placing a broad range of electronic components, like capacitors, resistors, integrated circuits onto the PCBs
3. REFLOW OVEN
A reflow oven is a unit used for reflowing (heating) the solder of the surface mount electronic components to the printed circuit boards (PCBs). Reflow ovens consist of a long tunnel containing a conveyor belt along which the PCBs travel along.
