Infinity Co-Founder Arnie Nudell: 1937–2017

It is with great sadness that we report the passing Arnie Nudell, one of the pioneering designers and company founders who helped define the American high-end renaissance.

Arnie's story epitomizes everything that's great about the high-end audio industry. He became a speaker designer purely out of love of music and a passion for recreating the orchestral experience in the home. In addition to being one of history's greatest speaker designers, Arnie was a wonderful human being. It was always a joy (and a learning experience) to be in his company.

To celebrate the Arnie's life and share with you his remarkable story, we've provided the chapter on Infinity Systems as a PDF from The Absolute Sound's Illustrated History of High-End Audio, Volume One: Loudspeakers.  Please download the PDF here.

Arnie's long-time friend and collaborator, PS Audio founder Paul McGowan, sent out the following press release with the news.

Arnold Nudell, 1937-2017

Boulder, CO | 11/21/2017: It is with heavy heart I am writing about the end of an era. My friend, mentor, inspiration and former business partner, Arnie Nudell, has passed away from complications of pneumonia. The family laid him to rest on Monday, November 20, 2017.

Arnie could truly be said to be one of the founders of high-end audio, along with Bill Johnson, Harry Pearson, and a small handful of other influential figures. When Arnie, John Ulrick, and Cary Christie started Infinity Systems in 1968, there was no other company in audio that pushed the state of the art the way they did. They cleared the path for the rest of us to follow.
A website is currently under construction. will memorialize his accomplishments as well as provide a platform for friends and devotees of Infinity to post their remembrances as well as someday provide information on the work of this audio legend.
Arnie Nudell will be missed.
