Ry, Denmark | November 1, 2017 – Gryphon Audio Designs of Denmark have earned universal praise for innovation in both electronics and loudspeakers and for their range of accessories, audio peripherals that go the extra mile in the refinement of any high-performance system.

Legends from the Gryphon laboratories include the Exorcist (1994) and Black Exorcist (1996) for the removal of magnetic build-up in line-level and MM/MC circuits, respectively.

Gryphon are also pioneers in the field of resonance control in audio equipment, introducing Gryphon Black Spikes as the standard footer for the Gryphon XT Preamp (1989) and for the Square One component platform. Early on, Gryphon dismissed the notion of vibration control via absorption/dispersion using soft materials to convert resonances to heat. Pads, springs, viscous damping, rubbery feet etc., typically provide a largely random mix of coupling and decoupling of the audio component to the underlying surface. Because of the different resonant frequencies of the materials employed, they will have highly variable impact on energy transfer and, consequently, exert unpredictable influence on musical performance.

For these reasons, the all-new Gryphon Atlas Spikes employ effective mechanical earthing, to divert resonances away from vibration-sensitive components (speakers, disc player, DAC, amplifier, turntable, cable/satellite TV box, etc.) where they could do audible and visible harm.

Extensive Gryphon research has shown that the size, shape and material of spikes can have significant influence on sound quality. Some materials actually store some of the energy that they are intended to transfer. But, because they are assembled from carefully selected parts made of Polyoxymethylene (POM), aluminium and tempered steel, Gryphon Atlas Spikes create an evacuation path between the equipment and the outside world, acting as mechanical diodes, conducting energy in one direction only and blocking it the other way.

These no-nonsense accessories, based on real science, include M4 screw threads for easy mounting under loudspeakers and adhesive pads for carefully balanced placement under audio components, regardless of total weight.
