Vincent Audio’s Newest CD Player: The Model C-60

Editor’s Note: Following is a press release we received today (3/16/10) about a new CD player from Vincent Audio.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (3/16/10) — Vincent Audio has introduced its new C-60 high end CD player with switchable vacuum tube and solid-state output stages, premium top-loading transport, excellent mechanical and electrical isolation, and fully balanced XLR outputs for an optimal preamp interface. The player is designed to compliment the style and performance of the highly regarded Vincent V-60 vacuum tube integrated amplifier.

Vincent C-60 owners, who like a choice between the richness of vacuum tubes and the precision of solid-state technology, can use the aluminum remote control or a front-panel switch to toggle between vacuum tubes or solid-state devices for the final output stage. Both the precision solid-state line output stage and the cathode follower 6922EH vacuum tube line output are equally high quality circuits.

The Vincent C-60 uses a top-of-the-range Philips transport that is known for highly accurate ‘no-bits-left-behind’ data retrieval capabilities. Digital processing is provided by state-of-the-art 24-bit/192-kHz PCN1792 DAC’s (digital audio converters) with eight-times oversampling for excellent dynamics and very low jitter.

Weighing in at 26.4 lbs, — heavy for a CD player—the C-60’s chassis construction using solid aluminum plates provides a stable platform to isolate the transport mechanism and signal path circuitry from vibration. The player’s premium, single-play Philips CD transport is a pleasure to use thanks to itstop-loading configuration and puck-style magnetic CD stabilizer.

The C-60 has also been designed with fully balanced circuitry from top to bottom, with premium XLR outputs for optimal interface with top quality preamplifiers. Other connections include RCA unbalanced outputs, along with a coaxial digital output and optical digital output.

Vincent went to great lengths to keep the noise floor vanishingly low and to protect the sonic character of the vacuum tube sections. It even uses a 6Z4 vacuum tube rectifier for the output stage power supply voltage. The power supply, drive stage, and output stage are isolated from one another in physically separated and shielded housings. This no-compromise approach helps to isolate each section from all possible sources of interference. The analog signal path employs German-made Wima coupling capacitors that are physically isolated from the active circuitry and BB2804 operational amplifiers to keep the signal path free of external noise.
The Vincent C-60 CD player is currently available at a suggested retail price of $4,695.
