Spiral Groove Now Shipping Revolution Ultra-High-End Turntable

The following is a press release issued by Spiral Groove.

BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA | September 20, 2016 – Spiral Groove today announced it is now shipping its ultra-high-end Revolution turntable. Designed to deliver extraordinary record playback, the Revolution’s sleek lines and bold colors complement its performance with a distinctive modern-meets-retro appearance.

The Revolution is engineered using Spiral Groove’s Balanced Force Design approach, aimed at achieving the most elegant equilibrium of materials, performance, function, manufacturability and beauty.

The Revolution features a three-layer body made from aluminum and Delrin, forming a dense, rigid and well-damped, non-resonant platform to which the working parts of the turntable and a tonearm (available separately) can be precisely mounted and isolated from one another.

The platter employs a truncated pyramid design with a Delrin top plate, aluminum bottom plate and vibration-damping technologies drawn from Spiral Groove’s Strange Attractor isolation feet, which refract, reflect and ultimately dissipate unwanted mechanical vibrations. This configuration creates an isolated energy sink for stylus-induced vibrations and a stable platform for the record.

The body of the Revolution utilizes a low voltage/low-torque AC synchronous motor with an outboard sine-wave-generator power supply. The motor is attached to a machined one-piece motor mount which is decoupled from the rest of the turntable with elastomer material, for exceptionally quiet record playback. Speed control is electronically selectable for 33-1/3 and 45 rpm. The inverted sapphire disc/hardened steel bearing is the same at that used in Spiral Groove’s flagship SG1.2 turntable.

The Revolution’s adjustable feet are customized Strange Attractors incorporating additional elastomer isolation technology. The Revolution’s removable armboard allows easy arm changes and the turntable will accommodate most tonearms up to 12 inches in length.

This carefully-orchestrated combination of high mass, extreme solidity, superior speed stability and a vanishingly low noise floor all converge in the Spiral Groove Revolution to deliver a remarkable level of LP playback.

The Spiral Groove Revolution turntable is currently available at a suggested retail price of $17,995. It mates perfectly with the Spiral Groove Centroid Universal tonearm ($6,000), an ultimate-performance tonearm built from materials selected for low mass, high strength and the ability to transfer mechanical energy away from the cartridge.

Spiral Groove is distributed in the U.S. by IMMEDIA.
